The Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects will expand the service capability of the Port of Dampier and provide more opportunities for inland economies and production facilities in Karratha and the broader Pilbara region.
The transformational project is funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments.
The new wharf it is being constructed as a multi-user facility that will predominantly facilitate the export of urea.
The wharf has been designed for berthing Supramax and Panamax bulk carrier vessels, and will also accommodate general cargo vessels, cruise ships, and vessels supporting the offshore oil and gas industry.
The refurbished Dampier Cargo Wharf and the new Dampier Link Bridge will both be multi-user facilities.
The last time a new wharf was built at the Port of Dampier was in 2006, being the construction of the Dampier Bulk Liquids Berth, under the then Dampier Port Authority.
Building the new Dampier Bulk Handling Facility to the south of the Dampier Cargo Wharf will create over 400m of berth face once the adjoining Link Bridge is complete, allowing more operational flexibility and the ability to berth multiple vessels at the one time.
